I posted this in a response to Raphael's earlier post, but perhaps someone knows the story or the owner. This pristine Integrale Evo was parked in front of a Starbucks in Evanston, IL on October 31st, 2010. It had IL plates, and I asked everyone in Starbucks if it was theirs to no avail. I couldn't wait around for the owner and I've never seen it again.
I'm aware that there are collectors out there with some pretty obscure cars. Back when I was into rallying there was allegedly a collector in the Atlanta area that had a massive and rarely seen Group B collection, and I stopped by TAD Motorsports back in 2000 when they had a gray-market Evo VI TME parked out front that they imported for a Chicagoland collector. Maybe it's the same guy. Anyone know of any rally car collectors in the Chicagoland area?
This was at the corner of Main and Chicago, if you're familiar with the Evanston area.

Wow! The owner would probably have come out to find me hugging his car. Him driving off may or may not have detached me from it.

I didn't know these were legal?

They aren't legal. It could have been in on a temporary permit as a foreign registered vehicle, but I'm guessing that it is a gray market car, imported via loophole. For cars that are never driven, there isn't much risk of being caught. That might explain why I haven't seen it again. I personally had a gray-market S1 Lotus Exige seized by the feds, but that's a story for another post.

Old 35mm pics. These are from back when the average camera was still pretty crappy.

I'm a pretty hardcore rally fan. I used to put the Escort Cosworth at the top of my Group A want list, but it has aged on me. While the Cosworth has been dropping on my want list, each year the Integrale rises.

and this. I'm seriously considering an Alfa 4C as the next track/fun car. It's got all of the raw ingredients of a next generation Elise/Exige.

Dear god, the 4C looks and must be amazing

I'm happy to know that I live in the same state as this beauty. It's weird but every time I think of a car, this is usually the first thing to pop into my head.

Did you talk with the owner? I'd be curious to know how he managed to park it upside down like that.

didn't wait for owner; lots of cars, not enough time. are you saying the pic displays upside down? looks correct on my devices (iOS6 safari & win7 ie9).
